Volunteering in South Africa

Are you interested in volunteering in South Africa? You can make a difference in the lives of others by volunteering with us today!

Ripple Reading is looking for committed and enthusiastic people to assist in our literacy centres, helping children of all ages to reach their potential and to take control of their futures.

However, as Ripple Reading is an NPO which focuses on professional intervention, only specific volunteers are encouraged to apply. Please only contact us if  (a) You are currently studying for a BEd degree /Honours, to volunteer as an assistant or to become one of our students or (b) a graduate, experienced or retired professional who is competent in any of the following fields:

  • Occupational Therapy;
  • Educational Psychology;
  • any degrees specialising in Cognitive Development and Critical Thinking (Executive Function Skills, Learning Skills & Thinking Skills).

These are voluntary positions – We cannot compensate (pay) any volunteer for their time or transport, however, together we can build a brighter future for our bright children.

Service to a just cause rewards the worker with more real happiness and satisfaction than any other venture of life.Carrie Chapman Catt (1859-1947)

Donate your professional skills and make an impact. Volunteering in South Africa will be one of the most rewarding things that you ever do…

Nooitgedacht Primary School (Gauteng) provides a classroom for Ripple Reading’s intervention. Building a vocabulary is an important stepping stone for children who are struggling to read
